Patience
As we begin to develop into our most authentic selves through our discipline in thought and action we will inevitably manifest unforeseen interactions within our lives. See, when we look at the wide path metaphor in the advancement of ourselves, we begin to see that just by altering our course a little bit, things will begin to happen differently for us. This can be as simple as changing the way you think about an activity within your life, or making a different choice within your diet. The reaction to your action within your life might not be immediately realized, but with patience, those decisions will manifest themselves in one way or another. We often yearn for instant gratification within our lives, but more often than not, the results of our decisions take time to manifest. When growing ourselves into authenticity, we must practice patience with ourselves and the impactful choices we begin to make for our lives.
When I think about beginning down the path of intention and consciousness, these are the sentiments that I often ponder. I don’t think about how my decisions will affect me tomorrow or the next day, rather, I practice long term patience with myself and my choices. I think this is a practice that we should all adopt within our lives: All too often we believe the decisions and actions within our lives will lead to immediate satisfaction or instantaneous results. This is unfortunately not the way the world works most of the time. Intentional decisions take time to manifest within our lives, slowly gathering speed before they can blossom into the greatest possibility. This is why I often use the metaphor of a garden for describing conscious action, as it succinctly illustrates the time, patience, and nurturing required to culture our decisions into their greatest possibility. We must water, prune, and be attentive to our garden’s needs as there is no autopilot button for taking great care within our lives. It's not an overly complicated process, but we must exercise thoughtfulness in our actions in order to actualize the goals we have for ourselves.
By excercising consistency within our mindfulness, we allow ourselves to maintain a positive trajectory within our lives, slowly guiding ourselves towards realizing our greatest potentials. By excercising consistent behavior within our lives, we are able to plan for the unplanned within our lives. Although we cannot predict how the weather, insects, or environmental factors will affect our garden, we can control our reaction their impact. This is perhaps one of the roots of the greatest anxieties within this world: The wish to control the outside environment to make it most beneficial for ourselves. We wish to tame the unruly nature of the universe, harnessing it to benefit our paths. The reality is that control can really only truly be excercised within ourselves, and rarely is an effective mechanism within the outside world. However, as long as we act with consciousness, patience, and vision we can minimize the effect of the deleterious externalities of the world. Stay your course with intention and grace, and your vision for yourself will be recognized before you know it.
