Intrinsic Growth

It is my opinion that we must ultimately realize the potential within ourselves, and our intrinsic desires for our lives. To live a life that has not realized its full potential is possibly one of the greatest declarations against our own humanity. To be a human being is to have choice within our lives, to have the propensity to achieve our dreams and goals, and to not live a life of monotonous inconspicuous behavior. This is the power of humans as we are preprogrammed with the ability to choose our paths, unlike basically any other life form on this planet. The bird knows just to be a bird, the wolf just to be a wolf, and the ant to just be an ant. As humans we can elect any numbers of paths within our lives, as long as we take the necessary actions and acquire the requisite behaviors in order to accomplish the task we set out to achieve.

Often we cannot determine the set or setting of our lives, as we are inextricably tied to the decisions and processes of the world around us, and the people that we interact with within our lives. The goal then, should be to use what is perscribed to you at the particular moments of your life, and to fuse them with your internal fortitude to shape your life into something purposeful and impactful to us and the others within our lives. It is my opinion that impactfulness, regardless of situation, should perhaps be one of the driving factors behind what we aim to accomplish within our lives.  We must take what resonates within our beings, and grow those traits and beliefs into their greatest potential. There is great power in a growing self identity. By weeding out and directly identifying what does and doesn’t serve us in our growth, we can grow our metaphysical garden with intention and grace. By keeping a serene and beautiful garden we can become impactful in any number of spectrums within our lives, as a well kept garden is appreciated by all those who observe it in all its glory.

It is very important then that in our growth we become acutely aware of our own unique skill set and how we can best utilize our uniquneess to best serve the process of growing into our most authentic selves. There are plenty of people that are tall enough and perhaps skilled enough to  become professional basketball players, but what portion of them will have the determination and opportunity to use their physical gifts for this purpose? Of that percentage, how many will be determined, and skilled enough to become elite professional athletes? How many of them will elevate themselves, and their teammates into champions? I use this analogy specifically to show that it takes far more than innate gifts to achieve the true potential of our lives. We must practice and hone the skills and attributes that were gifted to us within the world, as well as growing and acquiring new skills along the way. The road to success and happiness is paved with intentional action, practice, and dedication. Nothing truly great is built overnight, rather greatness is honed and executed consciously over a period of time and effort.
